Mark Kaplan – CEO
Mr. Kaplan became CEO of the NH-ICC in March 2013. He has nearly thirty years of executive, financial, venture capital, and investment industry experience. During the past 15 years, Mark worked in entrepreneurial endeavors, including as a venture capitalist with Maine based CEI Ventures. He was actively engaged in building Maine’s entrepreneurial ecosystem as a board member of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development (MCED) and the Small Enterprise Growth Fund (SEGF), which is the state of Maine’s venture fund. He served two terms as SEGF Chair of the board, and worked closely with entrepreneurs as an investor and as a MCED Top Gun acceleration program mentor. Mark has served on the boards of numerous private companies and non-profit organizations. He remains a board member of the SEGF and the MCED, a Portland based incubator, and also serves on its Top Gun Advisory Board. Mark earned his MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management and BA from the University of Michigan-Flint. He is a graduate of the NVCA-NASBIC Venture Capital Institute Certificate and Graduate Programs. He was awarded the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1986.
Allen A Hauf – Marketing Director
Mr. Hauf assists Resident Companies in basic marketing (target market, value propositions, positioning), sales and channel strategy and early customer & revenue acquisition. Al has 30+ years of experience in the software, telecommunications, networking and computer industry. Over the past 20 years, he has successfully helped lead early stage startups and small company turnarounds in executive marketing, sales and consulting roles. Hauf founded Hi Performance Marketing in Windham, a marketing and sales consulting firm that helps accelerate startup and small company growth, increase effectiveness and profitability. Prior to that Hauf served in executive/senior marketing and sales roles at Whaleback Systems in Portsmouth, Pingtel, Corp. in Woburn (Acquired by Blue Socket), Gold Wire Technology in Waltham (Acquired by Intelliden Corporation), RAScom Inc. (Co-founder) in Salem, PRI in Salem, and AllPoints Systems in Waltham. Prior to that Hauf held senior sales management and marketing positions at Digital Equipment Corporation. Hauf holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, MSE from University of South Florida, and a BSEE from North Dakota State University.
