Accelerating early stage startups, commercializing UNH technology.

Our Program

The NH-ICC program anticipates that applicants will come from two major groups

  • Early stage startup teams that have developed unique products for large potential markets, or
  • UNH research faculty or graduate student with important technology or inventions that have great commercial application potential

The Center staff and advisors will work with you to evaluate the potential fit for moving your company into the NH-ICC, or to build a company in the NH-ICC to commercialize your university research (see “Who should apply” for information on some of our screening criteria).

Approximately each 90 days, a resident company or UNH commercializeable application will be selected to enter the program.  The NH-ICC uses a highly selective process receiving many applications for each firm or application chosen.

If your firm or your commercializeable research is selected for entry into the NH-ICC, you will be provided with the following:

  • An equity investment offer of between $100,000 and $250,000 from the New Hampshire Early Emerging Technology Fund. This will help grow your company’s value by accelerating the development and marketing of your product or service.
  • Assignment of NH-ICC start up executive staff to perform key business functions for your firm, as needed in finance, marketing, sales, operations and administration.
  • Access to Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs), who are experienced startup professionals that you can exchange ideas and resolve issues with. Some may become engaged with you and your firm, as partners, to help you successfully accelerate your business growth.
  • The “large company look and feel” space you need in a great facility including communications infrastructure, cubicles, conference and presentation areas, labs and light assembly areas and a shared break room.  The facility has easy access to major highways, transportation and business and entertainment hubs at its location in the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth.
  • Assisted access to talented faculty, staff and students at the University of New Hampshire, located less than five miles from the Center, including cooperation on federally funded grant programs and grant funded intellectual property.
  • Assistance from many local vendors who appreciate that you have chosen New Hampshire for your corporate home.

Your stay within the NH-ICC facility itself will generally be limited to eighteen months with expectation that the business will have needs beyond those that can be provided in the Center on average in one year from entry.  Staff and EIRs will help your successful transition to a substantial stand alone going concern.
